Whitton extended their perfect start to the season with another well worked win against newly promoted Team Bury. On a barmy evening the first chance fell to the home side, Ross Kelly forcing a good save from Jack Foster. Whitton went forward themselves, Anton Clarke finding Jerrell Layne who fired straight at Nick Pope. It was end-to-end action all game. Kelly fired over the bar following a corner, then Jermaine Harewood dropped a ball into the Bury area with Jacob Heaton colliding with Pope and the ball bounced clear. Andrew Nugent beat the offside trap and won a corner off Oliver Brown, which Foster grabbed off the top of Andrew Woods' head. The deadlock was broken when Camillo Douglas collected a loose ball and drilled it across the goalmouth for Layne to fire home. Attack and counter-attack came and went with both defences standing up to their tasks well. Wood headed a long throw wide of the post, Layne forced a fine save from Pope at the far post, Harry Froud from 35 yards just cleared the bar and Clarke had a header caught.
The secocnd half saw the home side more on top but they were still unable to break the Whitton back line. Kelly from long distance sent in a sizzler which Foster couldn't hold onto with Neil Shade blasting it away, Nugent headed a corner over the bar, Douglas put a chance well wide, Kelly put a free kick over the bar then set up Nurse who who fired over, with Steven O'Neill doing the same at the other end. Bury should have drawn level, a corner brought a mass scramble in the Whitton area but somehow the visitors cleared the ball away. Layne was through with only Pope to beat but the home keeper saved well with his feet, then Pope's stretched fingertips only just turned Froud's shot from distance round the post. Elliot Hunter headed the final chance deep in injury time past the post, with Whitton weathering the final surges to take the well earned points.
