Whitton United took on Diss Town at the Kings George the 5th Playing field. Both sides of late have gained good results in recent matches which saw Diss Town perched at the top of the table; and also saw an improving Whitton United side not far from them in 5th position.
The first real attack came of the game came from Diss Town’s Jake Burton who robbed Whitton United’s Darcy Death which nearly led to an opening goal within the first few seconds of the game. However, after 5 mins into the game Diss Town had taken the lead after receiving their first corner of the match. Appalling marking by the Whitton United defence allowed Paul Nicholas (Diss Town) to head home a simple goal to put Diss Town in front.
A minute later Diss Town had scored again. Xavier Huxley (Diss Town) gleefully slotted home a half chance from 8 yards after Whitton United had failed on numerous occasions to clear their lines.
Whitton United own first attack came after 10 minutes when a nice one two involving Josh Brown led to his shot just going wide.
After 14 minutes a nice move saw Diss Town nearly increasing their lead as a lovely cross from Xavier Huxley (Diss Town) was met by a firm header from George Watts Sturrock (Diss Town), but this was brilliantly saved by Jack Foster in the Whitton United goal.
After 23 minutes Diss Town scored again. A lovely through ball by George Watts Sturrock put through Xavier Huxley, who had beaten the offside trap and then steady himself as he calmly slotted the ball past Jack Foster to make it Whitton 0 v 3 Diss Town
After 29 minutes Diss Town scored once more. This came after a free kick was awarded to Diss Town due to an infringement done. The first attempt at goal from the Free kick saw Whitton United defend successfully against. However, as the ball broke loose in to open play. Diss Town managed to send the ball back into Whitton United 18 yard area which was met perfectly by George Watts-Sturrock who had middle the ball on the volley, and sent the ball crashing into the roof of the net from just 15 yards.
After 35 minutes Whitton United’s Darcy De’ath was replaced after what appeared he was struggling with an ankle injury. He was replaced with Harry Froud.
After 40 minutes Diss Town were awarded yet another corner. From this resulting corner Whitton United conceded yet again. Paul Nicholas couldn’t believe his luck as he was allowed a free header which the Whitton United defence seemed to stand motionless as Nicholas scored from close range.
More horrors were to continue for Whitton United as a terrible mistake from Jack Foster (the Whitton United goalkeeper) who dallied on the ball for far too long, and this is turn saw him being robbed by Sam Bryant (Diss Town) who then had the easy task of slotting the ball into a open net.
It wasn’t over for Whitton United just as yet, as even worse was to come. Good open play by Diss Town, led to them providing a low cross to enter into the Whitton United 18 yard box. This fell to Stuart Garner (Diss Town) who converted this chance easily. The half time score was incredulously.

The second half began once again with Diss Town on the attack from the moment go. With their tails up, and full of confidence Diss Town opened up yet again Whitton United, and yet this time only brilliance of Jack Foster prevented Xavier Huxley gaining a hat trick after just 48 mins.
Whitton tried to get something from the game and continued to feed on scraps . This materialised after 55 minutes as Jerell Layne got of a shot after a half decent build up from Whitton United saw his shot just whiz very wide of Diss Town goal post.
After 60 minutes, Diss Town made it 8 nil after Xavier Huxley beat the offside trap of Whitton United defence, and after a long run in steady himself, rounded Jack Foster and cooley slotted home the ball into the back of the net. He had gained Hat-trick
Success at last for Whitton United in regards to this game in the form of a goal. This was due after being awarded a free kick on the edge of the Diss Town 18 yard box. Harry Froud stepped up to the plate and scored a quite inquisitive goal, in which Matty Hill (From Diss Town) didn’t even move. That was the last action from today’s game.
